d47662c448 Teensy Builds retain Filesystem
Changed a few things in the link step that satisfies the teensy
loader apps, both the teensy.exe as well as the teensy_loader_cli

such that when you program the board again it should retain the
file sytem that is stored in the upper area of the Flash

Since I have a PR on this file anyway, I thought I would put in the change to make it consistent
with the other 3 board types I tried. Can not say about any of the others.

73f6b48676 [mimxrt (teensy) Allow Any GPIO pin for RS485 pin
The existing code was setup that allowed you to specify an RTS
pin to be used as an RS485 direction pin, however there are no
RTS pins that are exposed on any of the Teensy 4.x boards.

Instead Arduino code base allowed you to specify any GPIO pin to
work instead. So I added the code in to facilitate this.

In addition the alternative code to wrap your own GPIO pin set high and low
around call(s) to uart.write() will not currently work, unless maybe you
fudge it and add your own delays as the write will return after the last
byte was pushed onto the UART’s hardware FIFO queue and as such if you
then immediately set the IO pin low, it will corrupt your output stream.

The code I added detects that you are setup to use the RS485 pin and
before it returns will wait for the UART’s Transfer complete status flag
to be set.

02a0939d2e Fix PWM Support for the MIMXRT boards
There were two main issues with the PWM support.

The first is they would fail to work properly if the board goes
into low power mode, when you do things like: time.sleep(0.25)
Can make partially work with this by turning on the proper flags
in each of the FlexPWMTimer Timers/sub-timers, but this did not
appear to work if for example you have both A and B channels
enabled.

Second main problem is that the code did not work with the X
channel of each timer/sub-timer. It looks like someone had
earlier started support for this, But was not sufficient.

Needed to bypass the SDK code and get it closer to the PJRC code.

That is we set the PWM_CTRL_FULL_MASK, which then uses base->SM[submodule].VAL1 to control
when the timer is reset, so it sets up your cycle/frequency. But then this implies that X channel
which uses 0, 1 has to be handled specially. So for the different channels:
    A - Uses VAL2 to turn on (0) and VAL3=duty to turn off
    B - Uses VAL4 to turn on (0) and VAL5 to turn off
    X - As mentioned above VAL1 turns off, but its set to the timing for freqency. so
        VAL0 turns on, so we set it to VAL1 - duty

ecf2f1c80c Add to board object other Serial and I2c pin names
While testing out this and the new MicroMod Teensy port, @mjs513
and myself found it desirable to have logical pin names for the
different Serial UART objects. It is a lot easier and clearer
to use and maintain to do something
like: uart4 = busio.UART(board.TX4, board.RX4)
than have to go look up the pin numbers for each board.

2a3eb49da7 Update the pins.c
I fixed a couple issues in the pin name definitions.

The pin names are sort of Teensy centric in that the priority is given
to the pin names you would use in Arduino like D0, D1, ...

But also added names for the MicroMod names in particular the names
on the front of the ATP carrier board

Also updated manufacturer to be both PJRC and Sparkfun

219ef5e407 disable on mimxrt10xx (Teensy40 41) Serial port Hooks
As mentioned in issue #6241 the commit to setup port hooks is now
    causing all input/output that are to go to the Mu window to also
    go to the LpUart that is defined the port serial.c

    and in this case it goes to lpuart4, which on Teensy 4, 4.1 is
    used on Arduino Serial2. With this new code this port no longer
    works properly.

    This is one way to solve it, in that there is a #if defined() that
    if not set, all of the code in this file is ignored and the higher
    level supervisor stub versions of these functions will be used, which
    don't interfere with Serial2 and my test sketch works again.

    Note: the PR for Switch to Port Serial Hooks, also changed code in
    other ports. I have not tried to see how.

    There are other more global fixes for this, in which maybe a higer
    level #if that disables the code within the top level supervisor. Or
    could be software controlled

    Again this may not be the final solution, but at least it gets
    Serial2 up and running agin.

F-strings, new machine.I2S class, ESP32-C3 support and LEGO_HUB_NO6 board

This release of MicroPython adds support for f-strings (PEP-498), with a
few limitations compared to normal Python. F-strings are essentially
syntactic sugar for "".format() and make formatting strings a lot more
convenient. Other improvements to the core runtime include pretty printing
OSError when it has two arguments (an errno code and a string), scheduling
of KeyboardInterrupt on the main thread, and support for a single argument
to the optimised form of StopIteration.

In the machine module a new I2S class has been added, with support for
esp32 and stm32 ports. This provides a consistent API for transmit and
receive of audio data in blocking, non-blocking and asyncio-based
operation. Also, the json module has support for the "separators" argument
in the dump and dumps functions, and framebuf now includes a way to blit
between frame buffers of different formats using a palette. A new,
portable machine.bitstream function is also added which can output a stream
of bits with configurable timing, and is used as the basis for driving
WS2812 LEDs in a common way across ports.

There has been some restructuring of the repository directory layout, with
all third-party code now in the lib/ directory. And a new top-level
directory shared/ has been added with first-party code that was previously
in lib/ moved there.

The docs have seen further improvement with enhancements and additions to
the rp2 parts, as well as a new quick reference for the zephyr port.
The terms master/slave have been replaced with controller/peripheral,
mainly relating to I2C and SPI usage. And u-module references have been
replaced with just the module name without the u-prefix to help clear up
the intended usage of modules in MicroPython.

For the esp8266 and esp32 ports, hidden networks are now included in WLAN
scan results. On the esp32 the RMT class is enhanced with idle_level and
write_pulses modes. There is initial support for ESP32-C3 chips with
GENERIC_C3 and GENERIC_C3_USB boards.

The javascript port has had its Makefile and garbage collector
implementation reworked so it compiles and runs with latest the Emscripten
using asyncify.

The mimxrt port sees the addition of hardware I2C and SPI support, as well
as some additional methods to the machine module. There is also support
for Hyperflash chips.

The nrf port now has full VFS storage support, enables source-line on
traceback, and has .mpy features consistent with other ports.

For the rp2 port there is now more configurability for boards, and more
boards added.

The stm32 port has a new LEGO_HUB_NO6 board definition with detailed
information how to get this LEGO Hub running stock MicroPython. There is
also now support to change the CPU frequency on STM32WB MCUs. And USBD_xxx
descriptor options have been renamed to MICROPY_HW_USB_xxx.

Check background pending before sleep
There is a race between when we run background tasks and when we
sleep. If an interrupt happens between the two, then we may delay
executing the background task. On some ports we checked this for
TinyUSB already. On iMX RT, we didn't which caused USB issues.
This PR makes it more generic for all background tasks including
USB.

Passing in a PWMOut still works but is deprecated. It will be

This also switches STM32 timer indices and channel indices to

more bug prone.

Simplify the status LED to save power
This also removes the need to pin share because we don't use the
status LED while user code is running.

The status flashes fallback to the HW_STATUS LED if no RGB LED is
present. Each status has a unique blink pattern as well.

One caveat is the REPL state. In order to not pin share, we set the
RGB color once. PWM and single color will be shutoff immediately but
DotStars and NeoPixels will hold the color until the user overrides
it.

e95e921ca1 codeformat: Fix filename matching
In #4683, tannewt noticed that uncrustify was not running on some
file in common-hal.

I investigated and found that it was not being run on a bunch of paths.

Rather than make incremental changes, I rewrote list_files to work
bsaed on regular expressions; these regular expressions are created from
the same git-style glob patterns.

I spot-checked some specific filenames after this change, and all looks good:

```
$ python3 tools/codeformat.py -v --dry-run tests/basics/int_small.py ports/raspberrypi/common-hal/pulseio/PulseIn.c extmod/virtpin.c tests/thread/thread_exit1.py  ports/raspberrypi/background.h extmod/re1.5/recursiveloop.c
tools/codeformat.py -v --dry-run tests/basics/int_small.py ports/raspberrypi/common-hal/pulseio/PulseIn.c extmod/virtpin.c tests/thread/thread_exit1.py ports/raspberrypi/background.h extmod/re1.5/recursiveloop.c
uncrustify -c /home/jepler/src/circuitpython/tools/uncrustify.cfg -lC --no-backup extmod/virtpin.c ports/raspberrypi/background.h ports/raspberrypi/common-hal/pulseio/PulseIn.c
black --fast --line-length=99 -v tests/thread/thread_exit1.py
```
recursiveloop and int_small are excluded, while PulseIn, virtpin,
and background are included.

Testing running from a subdirectory (not _specifically_ supported though):
```
(cd ports && python3 ../tools/codeformat.py -v --dry-run raspberrypi/common-hal/pulseio/PulseIn.c ../extmod/virtpin.c)
../tools/codeformat.py -v --dry-run raspberrypi/common-hal/pulseio/PulseIn.c ../extmod/virtpin.c
uncrustify -c /home/jepler/src/circuitpython/tools/uncrustify.cfg -lC --no-backup ../extmod/virtpin.c raspberrypi/common-hal/pulseio/PulseIn.
```

As a side-effect, a bunch more files are re-formatted now. :-P

p = pwmio.PWMOut(board.D13, frequency=1_000_000, variable_frequency=True)
p.duty_cycle = 32868

while True:
    pass
```
Querying and varying the duty_cycle and frequency work as well.
The lowest frequency obtainable is about 2kHz; there is an additional
divider which would allow lower PWM frequencies (I think 1kHz is important
for servos?)
Something odd happens with very low duty cycles, such as
```python
>>> p.frequency = 2000
>>> p.duty_cycle = 2
```
instead of a symmetrical waveform, it's asymmetrical.  With `duty_cycle=4`,
the effect disappears.  The reason for this is probably hidden in the
datasheet, but could affect servos or other things that count pulse
widths.
Add board_deinit for use with sleep
This changes lots of files to unify `board.h` across ports. It adds
`board_deinit` when CIRCUITPY_ALARM is set. `main.c` uses it to
deinit the board before deep sleeping (even when pretending.)
Deep sleep is now a two step process for the port. First, the
port should prepare to deep sleep based on the given alarms. It
should set alarms for both deep and pretend sleep. In particular,
the pretend versions should be set immediately so that we don't
miss an alarm as we shutdown. These alarms should also wake from
`port_idle_until_interrupt` which is used when pretending to deep
sleep.
Second, when real deep sleeping, `alarm_enter_deep_sleep` is called.
The port should set any alarms it didn't during prepare based on
data it saved internally during prepare.
ESP32-S2 sleep is a bit reorganized to locate more logic with
TimeAlarm. This will help it scale to more alarm types.
c7404a3ff8 Add movable allocation system.
This allows calls to `allocate_memory()` while the VM is running, it will then allocate from the GC heap (unless there is a suitable hole among the supervisor allocations), and when the VM exits and the GC heap is freed, the allocation will be moved to the bottom of the former GC heap and transformed into a proper supervisor allocation. Existing movable allocations will also be moved to defragment the supervisor heap and ensure that the next VM run gets as much memory as possible for the GC heap.
By itself this breaks terminalio because it violates the assumption that supervisor_display_move_memory() still has access to an undisturbed heap to copy the tilegrid from. It will work in many cases, but if you're unlucky you will get garbled terminal contents after exiting from the vm run that created the display. This will be fixed in the following commit, which is separate to simplify review.
Unify iMX flash config and add Metro M7 1011
This unifies the flash config to the settings used by the Boot ROM.
This makes the config unique per board which allows for changing
quad enable and status bit differences per flash device. It also
allows for timing differences due to the board layout.
This change also tweaks linker layout to leave more ram space for
the CircuitPython heap.
dd6e7f5a8a mimxrt10xx: Add required header for NORETURN definition 2020-09-28 18:56:01 -05:00
726dcdb60a Add some NORETURN attributes
I have a function where it should be impossible to reach the end, so I put in a safe-mode reset at the bottom:
```
int find_unused_slot(void) {
    // precondition: you already verified that a slot was available
    for (int i=0; i<NUM_SLOTS; i++) {
        if( slot_free(i)) {
            return i;
        }
    }
    safe_mode_reset(MICROPY_FATAL_ERROR);
}
```
However, the compiler still gave a diagnostic, because safe_mode_reset was not declared NORETURN.
So I started by teaching the compiler that reset_into_safe_mode never returned.  This leads at least one level deeper due to reset_cpu needing to be a NORETURN function.  Each port is a little different in this area.  I also marked reset_to_bootloader as NORETURN.
Additional notes:
 * stm32's reset_to_bootloader was not implemented, but now does a bare reset.  Most stm32s are not fitted with uf2 bootloaders anyway.
 * ditto cxd56
 * esp32s2 did not implement reset_cpu at all.  I used esp_restart().  (not tested)
 * litex did not implement reset_cpu at all.  I used reboot_ctrl_write.  But notably this is what reset_to_bootloader already did, so one or the other must be incorrect (not tested).  reboot_ctrl_write cannot be declared NORETURN, as it returns unless the special value 0xac is written), so a new unreachable forever-loop is added.
 * cxd56's reset is via a boardctl() call which can't generically be declared NORETURN, so a new unreacahble "for(;;)" forever-loop is added.
 * In several places, NVIC_SystemReset is redeclared with NORETURN applied.  This is accepted just fine by gcc.  I chose this as preferable to editing the multiple copies of CMSIS headers where it is normally declared.
 * the stub safe_mode reset simply aborts.  This is used in mpy-cross.
dddd25a776 Combine similar strings to reduce size of translations
This is a slight trade-off with code size, in places where a "_varg"
mp_raise variant is now used.  The net savings on trinket_m0 is
just 32 bytes.
It also means that the translation will include the original English
text, and cannot be translated.  These are usually names of Python
types such as int, set, or dict or special values such as "inf" or
"Nan".
